Dear Team,

I can't supervise new iPads anymore.

Before I go in details you should know a few things:

I use AP 1.7.2

OSX 10.11.6 (because if I upgrade AP 1.7.2 won't be compatible apple said to me)

The mac I use has been restored from a TimeMachine after the other one had a mother board issue (not sure this is important)

When I try to supervise a new iPad, I get the error: "The activation record is not valid".

To supervise the iPad, all I do it give it a name and click supervise. I don't restore any backups or apply profiles to it yet...

I tried supervising different iPads but no luck! I can still sync all the rest of my iPads and update apps etc etc.

Any ideas?

If it's not working, you might have to bite the bullet and use Apple Configurator 2. I find it much better being able to set background images and arrange the app tiles. Sorry it's not much help!

I wouldn't mind using AP2 but I still use ap 1 because I want to restore a backup with an app layout, settings pre loaded (notifications off, keyboards with multi language etc etc).

This error normally indicates that you have not authorised iTunes on the Mac being used for configurator, mind you, you are using software that really should be upgraded to the latest version, AC2 does everything you have mentioned.

Just encountering this issue myself (not updated them for awhile) and looks like since iOS 10.3.1 Configurator 1 does not support activation. Which is annoying.
