Sorry stupid question here!

Can you connect a bogstandard dvd player to a smartboard? We can connect a camcorder to play recorded stuff so how do we connect a dvd player?

You know the three cables you plugged into the camcorder, yellow white & red. Well if you get a scart converter for them and plug the scart into the DVD.

It's the projector/speakers that you'd connect to. Do you mean the 600i series (integrated Unifi projector and Smartboard). If so, yes you can hook up the VCR to the whiteboard with the three RCA connectors on the extended connection panel.

Yeah sorry I meant attach it to the projector, show it on the smartboard:o

We have the socket for attaching a camcorder so I'll use a scart convertor, cheers.

The reason I'm asking is that apparently at one of my schools last week, the teachers all tried to show dvds on their laptops as part of a special week but some of them couldn't play the dvds. A couple of the teacher's had asked me to set their laptops up which I did for them but the others didn't and then found dvds wouldn't play on their laptops! No doubt it will be my fault so I thought I might suggest the school purchase cheapo dvd players and use those in future!

Yeah experienced that already - most of the staff should be aware of that.

I think when the teachers inserted the dvd, Interactual player started which then said it needed admin rights, so rather than use win dvd or powerlink or whatever was on their laptops they just gave up! Trouble is I'm only at that school 2 afternoons and it's the old story of if I'm not aware there's a problem there's not much I can do to help! I left a general note on the notice board telling staff not to use Interactual player but obviously it wasn't read.

I am in exactly the same boat - In one school I leave little messages on the notice board as I am not there often - the staff read them but don't translate them as actually something they need to do -or not do! I don't know what we can do about it but it drives me up the wall. I find that the staff have been talking about things I 'haven't sorted' when in fact I have and left a perfectly good explanation for them as well!
