ICT teacher is having problems opening an excel document. It opens fine on my machine (office 2003) and opens fine on his teacher workstation (office 2000) but cant open on his laptop (office 2000)

 

an error is displayed on his laptop 'File error: data may have been lost'

 

any help much appreciated as im feeling rubbish today and cant get my brain in to gear

As you can open it (so can I with Office 2003) Have you tried File > Save as in Excel and saving as an earlier version of Excel?

 

It may be that there are features of this spreadsheet that are not supported by Excel 2000, unfortunately :(

opens fine on his school computer and that has excel 2000

 

steve I've tried saving it as an early version of excel and no joy :(

yup, that was the 3rd thing i tried :) Im uninstalling 2000 and installing 2003. needed to be done.

 

Ive had migraine for 2 days now, feels like my head wants to drop off
