Windows 10 Logon Genie Background

Hi there,

I am trying to change the logon background for all of our Windows 10 stations via active directory.

 

I have set up a policy for this with the following configured:

Computer Config>Policies>Windows Settings>Administrative Templates>Control Panel/Personalization>Force a specific default lock screen and logon image:

Path to lock screen image: \\server\applic$\Wallpapers\LockScreen.jpg.

 

The policy is enforced, all computers are gpupdated, but none of them are showing the background, despite about 5 reboots and 48 hours:

 

Does anyone have any ideas?

Check the version of the os you are using. Wasn't always supported. Only more recent updates support this. That's what I have set in GP and mine works perfectly fine

Thanks, I am quite sure we have the very latest. We have server 2016 and I used the Nov16 version of 10.

There don't seem to be any new updates for it on Windows Update.

Does it appear if you login as a new user? I've found the background doesn't change if the user has already logged in.

 

Have you tried a gpresult?

 

Is permissions correct on the share?

Try putting your image on the C drive and see if that works. Might not like the image being in a share.

As @Liam says, Win10 1511 wasn't supported by this go setting so you had to edit the pri file and push that out to machines, but now 1607 (anniversary update) enables this go setting to run.

 

I guess you've tried a RSOP on the mahines too?

Check there are no wmi filters in place. It might seem like it's meant to apply in its hierarchical structure but if you are os filtering it may notZ
