FN-GM Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Hello, I have enabled to the use of Android apps on Chromebooks in G Suite for our tenant. I have selected an app and selected allow install for the OU (no force install). I have gone to the Chrome user settings and allowed android apps in there also. My Chromebook is on the supported list. Now how do I install this app? I have tried via the play store but I get this error: You haven't accessed the Google Play Store app (the white shopping bag icon) on your device with this email account. Am I missing something here please? Thanks
rogerdnixon Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 This is the thing I did on Education on Air about it: It sounds like you have done it all. Enable for the Domain, enable for the specific OU, Add an app via the Play for Work store, Allow the installation of the App for the OU. Once you have done that, you should see the Play Store icon appear on the shelf of the Chromebook. You then need to sign in to the Play Store and wait a few minutes while it sets up. Once done you should be able to access the Play Store App. Now apps you have deployed may takea few minutes to actually appear in the store. We have found its sometime blank the first time a user fires it up - but after that its fine. Hope this helps a bit. 1
Arthur Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 (edited) My Chromebook is on the supported list. Which Chromebook do you have? Edit. As Roger said below, it might only be supported on the beta or dev channels. I was thinking the same thing. Edited March 30, 2017 by Arthur
rogerdnixon Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Current list: https://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org/dev/chromium-os/chrome-os-systems-supporting-android-apps?visit_id=1-636264771759545033-2846747554&rd=1 You may need to move to the beta or dev channel depending on the device.
FN-GM Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 I have a Chromebook 11 3120. I have just noticed "at a time to be announced in the future" - I miss read that when I was playing at 10pm last night! Doh!
Primus Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 To be fair they need to get a wriggle on, there's been no new devices added to support for a while now.
FN-GM Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) Hello, I have 1 test Chromebook that is supported and it works. But do you know how I stop this popup when you login please? Can we agree for the users maybe? thanks Edited April 5, 2017 by FN-GM
FN-GM Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 How would the in app purchases work with Chromebooks? If we purchase apps in the future its not going to start billing the schools card is it?
Arthur Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 they need to get a wriggle on It looks like some progress is finally being made. Nougat rolling out in Canary on Samsung Chromebook Plus Google updates list of Chrome OS devices that have or will receive Android apps I wonder if Google will announce something at Google I/O in May? 1
FN-GM Posted April 27, 2017 Author Posted April 27, 2017 Crazy that Nougat will be on Samsung Chromebooks before Samsung smartphones! 1
FN-GM Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 There used to be a sentence on the supported device page that said "Devices launched in 2017 will support Android apps". That has gone and I have noticed the HP Chromebook X360 11 doesn't support Android apps yet.
Arthur Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 I have noticed the HP Chromebook X360 11 doesn't support Android apps yet. Google have updated the list again... Google adds Play Store support to more Chromebooks from Acer, Dell, ASUS, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung Your Chromebook x360 11 G1 EE can run Android apps if you switch to the beta channel. https://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org/dev/chromium-os/chrome-os-systems-supporting-android-apps
gpjt Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Can anyone tell us how to switch all the devices on a domain to the beta channel please?
rogerdnixon Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 In device settings (in the Admin Console) you can set the channel they are on. Just set it to beta on whatever OU's your devices are in. I'd not recommend putting all of them onto the beta channel - its really for testing.

rogerdnixon Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 No - thats in you G Suite admin console - under Device Management - assuming your devices are managed. If they are not managed - its one device at a time - login as the user who is the owner of the device - Settings - About ChromeOS - Detailed build information - change channel.
rogerdnixon Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Then its Device Management > Chrome Management > Device Settings 1
gpjt Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Then its Device Management > Chrome Management > Device Settings Thank you! Found it from that
