jdsa Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 If a pupil has been mistakenly issued a new UPN by a school, I assume once you find out the original UPN you need to update this on SIMS? Because you can't type in the 'Former UPN' field do you enter the original UPN into the 'UPN' field and then the 'Former UPN' field will update with the mistaken one issued? Are there any particular pitfalls you need to look for (e.g. this mistaken UPN would have been submitted on the school census)? Thanks.
howartp Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Correct, we had to do this last year. If the wrong one was sent on census, your census office should have queried it cos they can tell it's wrong. 1
Banjo Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Census Office? not heard of them before, you mean the DfE?
bobsmith Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Depends if you deal direct with the DfE or you are part of a local authority who are nice enough to do the final checks on COLLECT before it goes off the DfE. Our LA checks everything they can, particularly duplicate or otherwise erroneous UPNs.
jdsa Posted March 24, 2017 Author Posted March 24, 2017 I'm still looking into it honestly, but I think what happened was we didn't realise a pupil had gone to a state Nursery and issued a UPN. Haven't heard a peep from other people that it was wrong, just working off my own hunch after a little alarm bell went off in my head, and wanted to know what to do if it turned out correct so thanks.
