Hi All,

Wondered if anyone can help... I have been given the task by our CEO to complete an IT Audit across all of the schools in our trust (1 Secondary & 5 Primaries). Now I have completed most of the hardware and software side of things but need to collect some feedback from users....

This is where I am stuck - not sure if its not enough coffee or a lack of sleep that has stopped me here! Can anyone suggest any questions?

Thanks in advance

Luke

What data do you need to collect? Improvements? Value for money? If they like the system? Easy of use? Reliability? Service from the IT department? Repose times to repairs?

@FN-GM all of them things really apart from the value for money, its really to see what there experience is. At the moment all of the support for IT is local in each school, and I believe the plan is to start to centralise this.

We use the following or a variation of every year:

  1. What do we (IT) do well? What works for you?
  2. Where could we do better?
  3. How can we help you? What projects or plans do you have for the coming year? What would you like to be able to do?
  4. Do you need any training on anything?

These forms are fine until you get respones that are silly like

  1. Where could we do better?

x, y and z but none have ever been reported or mention someone that is nothing to do with you

  1. How can we help you? What projects or plans do you have for the coming year? What would you like to be able to do?

Insert really expensive bit of equipment/software here that we don't need but I want an Ipad etc

@keyboards Both of those responses are useful information though.

In example 01:

We see the user isn't reporting problems in a timely manner. This could either be because they're not sure how to, assumes that someone else in their dept will and/or they're lazy, or they believe that IT has time to manually around ~1,000 devices every day to make sure they're happy. Whatever the reason, that needs discussing with them and their line manager because their inaction is impacting other people.

In example 02:

Yeah, we get those. No, there isn't money this financial year. But I can go back and teach them how to structure a future bid such that it's more likely to be successful.

TLDR: If you do a survey and a proportion of your users provide documentation that they're twerps, that's written evidence for you and SLT.
