laserblazer Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 My ATX power supply has no SATA power connectors so I have ordered an molex 4 pin to SATA adapter. This has no 3.3v but I understand that this is only an issue when hotswapping. Is this correct?

You'll find that most drives don't, because molex connectors don't supply one, but you need to check before plugging it in. The drive label should state its requirements.
synaesthesia Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 You're quite correct, the orange supply is only really a requirement for hotswapping, which even now barely works on many chipsets.
