pbad Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Hi I have been asked by the Head Teacher to look at saving costs on our link2ict subscription charges due to the severe budget cuts. The school is looking to move to another broadband supplier and I have short listed the following suppliers to get quotes:- Wave 9 Exa Education RM Broadband Schools Broadband I would like to know what the school will be losing from link2ict when moving to a different broadband supplier. I assume that the school will lose the following:- Link2ict web filtering Link2ict Remote Access VPN Access to CRISP Online Access to BCC to send data to LA Any advice would be appreciated. 2
SchoolsBroadband Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Thanks for thinking of us @pbad. We've moved quite a few schools from Link2ICT already. you'd lose the Link2ICT web filtering but get our Lightspeed instead. If you were using us or a.n.other provider you where would you need to VPN back to? We provide VPN as standard including 2 factor authentication if required. I'm unsure ref CRISP but there are other methods and ways to send information back to the LA. If I can help any more do let me know. Thanks Dave
exa_damon Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Hello pbad, Naturally we would be happy to provide a quote for your school. Your summation of the other services you may no longer have access to is correct. As with the above, we can replace your connectivity and filtering although with Exa everything is under one roof, as we provide our own, ever evolving Surfprotect solution. The CRISP issue is certainly a contentious one. Some schools have been told they would need to pay a large sum of money to retain access to this. However I am working with a number of Birmingham schools who are looking at various "work arounds" ! I would be happy to come and see you to discuss your requirements further. Kind regards, Damon
