[sccm 2012] New SCCM Instance

We have an old, creaking and badly managed instance of SCCM2012 SP1. It has been suggested that we just start again - new servers for SCCM and SQL, and as the school name has changed new Site Code as well. Am I right in thinking that, as long as boundaries don't overlap I can do this?

Yeah I've had two instances of Sccm running when I migrated from 2012 to CB on a new server. No probably as long as the sites have different codes.

Yeah I've had two instances of Sccm running when I migrated from 2012 to CB on a new server. No probably as long as the sites have different codes.

We have done this very recently, we have SCCM 2012 R2, but did not want to upgrade so we installed SCCM (current branch).

 

Boundaries do overlap, but we are not deploying at the moment, just creating fresh packages and images - be careful with the WDS service, this may conflict depending on how your network setup.

When we replaced our former SCCM server we also started from scratch.

 

I just turned off the old server, created a new one with the same IP address and also used the same site code and boundaries. As and when a new version or upgrade/update has come out for it I've done an in place upgrade as I know it was installed properly (by me) and so far everything is fine!
