Hi

I have had access to SIMS Discover for a while now but have not been able to get much info on it.

What I would like to do is to create groups that are not based around the existing ones.

For example, in Discover your have your various drop down menus eg, attendance, within this there are various choices of graphs that you can drag onto the canvas.

What I want to do is to create my own groups, for example, students with less than 90% attendance.

Can I do this or am I limited to the graphs that are built in?

You can use the Discover Administration Utility to change the look of the attendance graphs. If you choose five percent intervals rather than one percent ones, and play with the number of bars, using say six only, you then go back in to Discover and find that the percentage sesion attendance graph looks a bit different and has a last column of "less than x%". Drag this single bar onto the create new group button, and save it as a Dynamic group, so that you can click the little flag symbol to be notified of students joining and leaving this group. The home page in Sims.net then will alert you with a message in "my messages". Instant notification that little johnny has dropped below x%attendance, or little billy just got out of the group following some intervention perhaps. Whilst Discover has lost a bit over time it is still good for the pastoral stuff. HTH
