Summary Rows in SIMS

Thanks for taking the time to read this, I have been tasked to assist in SIMS management at my new school and have am having trouble with one of the tasks set to me.

 

Senior Leadership would like at the bottom of a mark sheet to have summary rows which will tell me the percentage of students on for A*-B, A*-C and A*-F for columns where we have entered current progress grades.

If you open a marksheet and click on the Summary button in the toolbar this will give you statistical information about the grades in each column.

If you right click on a particular column header if it is using an appropriate grade set there will be an option called "Show Grade Distribution" which shows the % of each grade in the column.

This may give you what you want depending on how the data in the marksheet columns has been set up.

Thanks for your reply, I have come to this system after it has been developed by another member of staff but what exactly SLT is another Row under students names which will then under the column for say "Predicted Computing Grades" show how many will fall into a range defined by us (ie a Row would say A*-C and the cell would then state a percentage based on how many A*-C where in that column)

If you need to do calculations like that then its probably easier to export the data out and do it in Excel.

What you are describing is an aspect analysis that can be embedded on to the SLT's home page in SIMS. It's not part of the marksheet but will give them a constantly updating overview of where they are, even while all teachers are entering marks. Ask your LSU to set an example one up for you (or attend the 2 day training course Capita/your LSU provide, or read the assessment manuals)

What is the LSU? Where could I find these assessment manuals? I am not to sure being sent back to the UK for a 2 days training is on the cards unfortunately!

the manuals are available to download from Capita's myaccount website, which if you pay for SIMS you should have access to.

 

LSU = local support unit - if you have one. We don't as we pay for Capitas Enhanced Support.

You can also get the manuals by clicking the Documentation button on the SIMS homepage. Yes LSU stands for Local support Unit but they haven't been local for quite some time, I've worked for various LSUs over the years and some supported schools in other countries, I should probably use a different description of them as LSU now I think about it is rather outdated. You could always find a SIMS Support Team who do remote training rather than fly back to the UK (If you want more information, please feel free to PM me)
