talksr Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 So silly of me. I am working remotely on a test Windows 10 station. Having some local DNS issues, have just entered in the command ipconfig /release .... I am on using RDC. What a complete idiot. Does anyone know if it will try renewing after a predefined period or do I need to call someone up and ask them to pull the plug on it and restart it? Thanks in advance, what a fool I am.
Sagima Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 I'm not sure if it will on its own but disabling/re-enablng the network port on the switch it is attached to might encourage that behaviour 1

Grrrr
talksr Posted February 28, 2017 Author Posted February 28, 2017 Problem solved, I telephoned the site manager who helpfully bounced the computer for me. What would we do without those guys?!
Bedders Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Too late now (I've only just had chance to test this) but unplugging the network cable and plugging it back in again does reconnect a computer to the network. Just for anyone who comes across this thread
gh5000 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 And also the correct command is "ipconfig /release && ipconfig /renew" for anyone else wondering what went wrong 1
