nathan Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 We are a MAT of primary schools and at the moment we license on a individual basis as thats how it was when they join the trust. Just wondered what other people did for licensing. EES agreement for the whole trust? Individual device licensing. Apologies for what's likely a simple question to most, i tend to struggle when getting my head around Microsoft licensing.
Wave9_Lee Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Hi Nathan, partly depends on how your MAT is structured and what your plans are (i.e. where are the individual schools at with MS), but in principle if you licence as a MAT you would streamline your admin/billing/management etc, and if your staff work in several schools, then you would reduce duplicate FTE count. cheers
Kitkatninja Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 We license the whole MAT under one license - saves on the ball ache of remembering when everyone's licensing expires (got e-mail confirmation from MS that we're allowed to do this)
localzuk Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 We have looked at this ourselves - we currently have multiple agreements, but once the first one runs out, we will be starting a new agreement and adding all the schools to it as their agreements run out. So eventually, we'll have a single agreement covering the whole MAT. Simplifies it a lot, even if it doesn't help reduce the price yet (not enough staff to get to that price point).
ITGURU Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 I was advised by our reseller that they keep agreements separate for MAT schools unless the FTE count it over 1000 or there are 5 or more schools in the trust, otherwise there is no benefit.

The benefit is not having to manage a bunch of agreements - ie. having to send in a bunch of orders each year. Less bureaucracy.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Just out of interest what number of staff do you need in order to get a discount?
Wave9_Lee Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Hi Nathan, the first band is 1,000 FTE I think. Good old MS! 1
