ive been working on getting windows 10 rolled out to my workstations and notebooks in my school. I have server 2012 with KMS installed and KMS_12 Channel licencing installed on KMS.

Ive been trolling the internet for ages looking for information on getting Windows 10 to activate against my current KMS server and to get office16 to do the same. I have seen some articles on TechNet that seem to say its possible.

I have been thinking that the way forward maybe to just scrap KMS and move to ADLS but I haven't seen any info on migrating KMS to ADLS and I also don't know what impact this may have on the Windows 7 Licencing and Office 2010 workstations as I'm phasing in Windows 10 and as such not every workstation/notebook will be windows 10.

I have no issues with Windows 7 and office 2010 which activates fine.

So my question is has anyone had any success with getting server 2012 to active windows 7 and Windows 10 and since its been 3 years since I messed with KMS how do I do the same with office 2016

Thanks in advance!

I left my kms server doing office and win7 and had win10 activate against ad.

There isn't really any migration for it - you just set it up on the server (i used a DC) and as long as the win10 machines are domain-joined they will be activated when they start up. It's really simple

Pretty sure you need a Windows 10 KMS Host Key (although I seem to recall that this is included in a Server 2016 KMS Host Key, which when installed to your KMS Host, allows Win10 to activate.)

The other thing is that you used to need 25 PC's running Windows 7 to allow KMS to work, so I suspect you need the same for Win10. As far as Office 2016 goes, you need to get hold of the KMS Host Key for Office 2016 and install (slmgr /ipk "PRODUCT KEY" to your KMS Host).

This should all be available on your MS Licensing Login.

Hope this helps.
