AV Switcher box help/advice

Im sick of having to use adapters for different format outputs from different devices, this got me wondering.

Is there a video box, where it has various inputs such as HDMI, VGA, Display port etc and then also has similar outputs and you simply choose the path for the signal to take.

 

so if you needed to go from mini hdmi to VGA you simply press mini hdmi for the input and then VGA for the out put.

 

Does such a device exist, if so where and if not why not?
