Hi All,

 

We are looking at firefly VLE with a view to launch it school wide in September, has anyone recently launched firefly that would be able to let me know a bit of info about how it went and the timescales they followed.

We have Firefly Parent Portal and have done for a few years now. We are looking into the 'full' version, possibly for September although we would be cutting it fine time wise now. Would be interested to hear some more from other schools about timings as well.

Timescales are up to you and how many people you need to get authorisation from to get things moving. If it's just you saying yes to whatever you want then you can be up and running within a few weeks.

This is for the cloud hosted version, it may be different if it's running on your servers.

We started using it in September, we actually placed our order about a year ago. In some regards it was a tight deadline (like ensuring the student email addresses were present and correct in the MIS) but the big one was giving staff enough time during Summer 2 for CPD, to upload resources and generally prepare themselves for official launch in September. Don't get me wrong there isn't a particularly steep learning curve to Firefly but some struggled more then others (as with all things).
