Hi, I've purchased two additional sata drives to increase the storage on my Dell R720 server which hosts numerous VM's.

Currently has 2 x drives for the OS and 4 x drives for the data storage.

The latter is RAID0.

I've inserted the two new drives and the lights are on.

How do I get them to join in?

I don't think it will allow you to add the Raid 10 as its already built. I'm guessing you would have to put them in to Raid1. and use them as mirror.

*please don't quote me on this*

I assumed that was a mistype. But if it is 0 then select the virtual disk and from the drop down menu select reconfigure and follow the wizard

If you go onto the virtual disks you might be able to add them to the existing virtual disk.

Thanks, I've gone with that option. It's reconstructing as I write. Fingers all crossed!

RAID5 apparently when you get down to it.

I went for mistype. Who would use Raid0 for a server host? (unless they got very good backups...)

PS - RAID5 apparently, much better and backups are poor!

Think I should have waited until the weekend or half-term as it's only at 1% and everything is going very sloooowwww. Bugger.

So this morning, the 'reconfiguring' has just completed and now it's 'background initialisation'! Still impacting network performance........
