Ragu Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Hi, We have Ruckus zone flex R500 AP. We are using it with the controller. I would like to know if this can be used as standalone AP after plugging into the zoneDirector? I haven't tried anything. We have an AP which hardly get used and we need to put this in another building as standalone. is it possible to load the firmware?
snagrat Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Yes you can download the firmware for free from Ruckus so it can be used standalone
ZeroHour Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 At snagrat says you just load the standalone firmware on it and you are good to go. Ensure your ZD doesn't have automatically manage new aps when discovered though as it will take control and change the firmware.
Ragu Posted January 31, 2017 Author Posted January 31, 2017 Thank you guys. Can download the tool from Ruckus which will let me flash the firmware or I need 3rd party tool. I I guess I need to download the correct firmware from the Ruckus website. Sorry guys I have not used any of their product before. Thanks
snagrat Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 You download the firmware for the AP (although it may be one big zip with all models in). Then browse to AP via chrome and login. Then update firmware. As easy as that

Thanks As long as you can login to the AP directly, all you have to do is download the correct firmware and upload it via the Ruckus AP webmin.
