I've found Inkscape (free, open source) to be okay - I've just produced our school map with it, with new drama block traced from the architects plans and different layers showing different features (fire evacuation points, network points, etc). Dia (also free, open source, similar to MS Visio) might also meet your needs - specialised diagramming software. I don't think I'd recommend either of those programs for something that you are actually going to build a physical building from, mind, but for anything less they should be adequate. -- David Hicks
Simcfc73 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I would have offered you my Visio 2005 disc that I dont use anymore but I think you need to ring MS to get a new key as I've reinstalled it 50 times, your welcome to it if you want. I use Smartdraw now though, very similar to Visio just a bit easier. Our site manager loves it and we have floor plans coming out of our ears.

We have used it to try out ideas for computer suites with some success. Not sure I would pay £30 for it though.
