Supporting Primary schools/SLA/Contract

Hi guys,

 

I've been supporting the local primary school on an "ad hoc" basis over the past few months - They've asked us if we'd be interested on providing this on a more longterm basis as they don't feel they get enough value from their current provider. They do have an on site techy who can handle the day to day stuff, but they need the experience we can offer.

 

This isn't something we've done before - I'm considering charging them X amount a year for X amount of hours support a month & then giving a flat rate for additional hours.

 

They've also got some fairly big project working coming up that will require quite a lot of work (They essentially need their entire domain rebuilding) - How would you go about charging for this? I was considering a "project rate" & then breaking down all the costs. I'd also want a day over there documenting everything they have at current.

 

Does anyone have any sample contracts/SLA's they have for situations such as this? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Would you agree that (based on what they're paying vs how problematic/demanding they are/aren't) that they're not getting enough value from their current provider?

 

I supposed I'd want to see a list of what they've needed from the external provider over the last couple of years to get a gauge of how much of a drain on my team they'd be before committing to anything and deciding on pricing.

 

Project rate + "phone/visit" rate" separately is best, plus an up-front agreement about project scope beforehand to avoid creepage ("oh we thought you'd do X as well....").

Thanks for the reply. I think their issue with the current supplier is that they support a large amount of primary schools across a wide area & they feel fairly low down on the priority list, whereas we are practically across the road. They're generally fine with just a few hours of support a month.

 

I am a little wary of the project work tho, given that it's such a huge undertaking.
