o365 SRV Records

I'm testing office 365 and I'm running into an issue with the SRV records

 

I've set up o365 as a subdomain of a domain, I've got green ticks on everything except for the SRV records (I believe that's for skype for business). I've been told by 123-reg that I can't have SRV records on a subdomain - is this correct? Pardon my ignorance

If there's a name field in your srv record for the parent domain what you put in that field is the subdomain name. It might start something like:

 

Service: skype

Protocol: udp

Name: [subdomain]

123-reg don't seem to have that, and they are telling me I can't add nameservers

All else fails I'll just get a new domain, scuppers plans for integrating with our main domain name if I get asked to go GAFE / o365 mix though

Had a quick look at the srv guide for 123 and I'm not convinced it will work but making the hostname _sip._tls.SUBDOMAIN and _sipfederationtls._tcp.SUBDOMAIN might accomplish what you want but you might be looking at transferring your dns records elsewhere (i don't think you need a new name)

I tried that - must just be a 123-reg thing, I guess I will need to shift the DNS elsewhere. Thanks again

Hi - We have the same issue as you with Reg 123. who did you decide to use for your dns records?

We didn't, I abandoned o365 as it was just a test (We primarily use GAFE)

I had issues when I set my personal one up when I moved to 123 reg, there was an option in the O365 admin console to use a different way to add the domain which skipped the skype and just added in MX record, 2 or 3 text, a SPF record and 2 CNAMES that seems to have disappeared but it let me continue with no errors.
