That turned out well - looks a nice bike! I see it is a 'Motus' not 'Modus' hence the confusion over 'Raleigh Motors'. Someone in marketing no doubt with a degree comes up with this stuff! It's not exactly capturing the joy of cycling in the elements.

 

Yup - took it out to 'check it's OK' yesterday - it is great - much better in all ways than the one that was returned

 

motor is quieter, comes in smoother

gears seem better and brakes work better

 

also frame tube are (or just look??) thinner making the whole bike look better

 

 

only problem so far is that the saddle is a different shape and puts pressure on some - errr - parts - but I'll probably get used to it

 

Oh - and the old one had great lights that were powered off the battery - and came on automatically - and I put my good lights on my wife's bike and the cheaper lights on the old ebike that I sold - so I'll have to buy some more lights

 

 

overall - massive improvement

 

really impressed by Raleigh's approach in the end - they did try to fix it and eventually realised it had been going on too long and just reacted properly

also - local bike shop (John Geddes in Widnes) were great at keeping up the pressure - very pleased that they came out of it with no financial loss themselves - they were starting to think they would have to refund the money and then have to try to make some back by selling the bike off for parts.
