L3OUGH Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Hi all, We've had a request come in from a teacher asking to use the following website https://bouncyballs.org/ to help with managing classroom noise levels. We have been asked to source and supply 3x suitable microphones to use with the tool. However we only have really cheap mics that don't pickup the noise half as well as we need or mics that are attached to headsets. Does anyone else use this tool in school? If so what mics did you go with and are they good enough? We were thinking something like a Blue Snowball would be good enough but they come with a steep price tag at £50 each: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Microphones/Blue-101211-Snowball-iCE-USB-White/B014PYGTUQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1484561854&sr=1-1&keywords=blue%2Bsnowball&th=1 Would something like a Samson Sameteorite do the job? A bit closer to what we were hoping of paying: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samson-SAMETEORITE-Meteorite-Condensor-Microphone/dp/B00I9RK97K/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1484562471&sr=8-3&keywords=Samson+Go+Mic I'm not the best with mics at all so any input would be very grateful. Thanks Liam
pslater Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Anything omni-directional placed in the middle of the room. If I was doing it I would be using a cheap mic and running discrete cabling to have the mic in the middle of the classroom. Should be do-able for under £20 per room but don't have some working examples to suggest I'm afraid. definately check that the mics are omnis though so you pick up all directions from the centre of the room.
mikeprice Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Can't acces this from work but our DH tried something that seems like this Kids loved it - kept trying to get louder to get the balls to bounce more he doesn't use it any more
