FN-GM Posted January 13, 2017 Author Posted January 13, 2017 It also does it on Server 2016. Although that hasn't been an issue for me.
samgray96 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I'm having the same issues with staff laptops stating that "Action Required" then opening browser assuming that proxy needs sign in, using smoothwall...

samgray96 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 We also use Smoothwall. Are you using transparent filtering? No using non-transparent
FN-GM Posted January 13, 2017 Author Posted January 13, 2017 No using non-transparent Not what I thought. Smoothwall transparent authenticates via a html file so thought that might be it. It might be happening because when you login you are unauthenticated against the proxy?

On startup an exe is executed that ensures that proxy credentials are stored in credential manager and our proxy authenticates with ntlm identification?
FN-GM Posted January 13, 2017 Author Posted January 13, 2017 Think i have found a fix. Adding these sites to the authentication exception seems to have stopped it. http://www.msftconnecttest.com http://www.msftncsi.com dns.msftncsi.com ipv6.msftncsi.com ipv6.msftconnecttest.com 2

FN-GM Posted January 13, 2017 Author Posted January 13, 2017 They are not websites or anything. They are just connectivity test sites, not designed for end users to look at. So far its 100% fixed on Windows 10 LTSB 2016 and Server 2016.

Katy Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 It pops up when you have connected to a network (even wired) if it can't talk to the test page to determine connectivity - so it assumes you are behind a filter that needs you to log on. The alternative to blocking URLs is just one reg key so you just need a computer level group policy preference registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet\EnableActiveProbing - set to 0
