Stopping Delivery of emails out of school hours

Email will be accessed mainly using synced devices (iPad, iPhone) etc.

Could you just disable pop, imap and the webserver so they cannot gain access to email?

 

That sounds like a good idea, butI don't know if you can schedule it

I have spoken to our ISP which is also our email relay and they can backup any emails whilst the server is offline, without sending any bounce backs for up to 72hrs.

In which case just stop the transport service via a schedule task at 5pm and start it again at 8am (or times to suit). Nothing gets received and nothing gets sent. When the service is started all the email via your isp will come flooding in! and i think any email in the send queue would get sent (you might need to test that bit)

That was my initial suggestion. I believe the intention is to just force it for a few weeks to get everyone used to it and then revert back to normality having shown staff that they are under no obligation to respond to emails in out of school hours.

Before Christmas, our Head asked me to find out if it would be possible to have a discouraging message pop up if a member of staff began composing an E-Mail after 7:00 pm during the week or at any time during the weekend (Office365)

 

I have made no progress with this and I plan to quietly forget about it. Hopefully, he (The Head) will do the same.

 

Our Paris office wanted the same, the best I've been able to do is a transport rule that replies with a message about working after hours they composed - the rule is then enabled/disabled by a scheduled task. It's ropey but they seem happy.
