That was my initial suggestion. I believe the intention is to just force it for a few weeks to get everyone used to it and then revert back to normality having shown staff that they are under no obligation to respond to emails in out of school hours.

I have spoken to our ISP which is also our email relay and they can backup any emails whilst the server is offline, without sending any bounce backs for up to 72hrs.

Email will be accessed mainly using synced devices (iPad, iPhone) etc.

Thank you all for your replies. All the issues that have been brought up are well founded however in this case it is the staff who have asked for this. They have complained that they are getting a lot of emails from students and or parents out of hours and they feel compelled to reply immediately. Don't get me wrong i think this idea is wrong especially as we are a boarding/international school but the decision is not for me to make, i can only warn of the disadvantages of removing such an important and primary source of communication. Of course the easy solution is for SMT to give staff approval to not reply to emails until next working day, however in order to force the change in culture and to get teachers used to not having to reply immediately a technical global solution has been requested. We want to trial it for 2/3 weeks and see what reaction/feedback we get. We have already put a short notice in the email disclaimer of the hours that emails will delivered. For the moment i am going to have to just unplug the network cable from the email server as they want to start today so that no emails are delivered over the weekend. I was hoping there would be a software scheduling solution but i haven't found one yet. I will read up on creating a transport rule, however i am hoping sanity will prevail after the weekend.

I have been asked to look into how to stop delivery of email out of school hours to all staff. We have on site Exchange 2010 and as far as i know there is nothing that can do this a part from either shutting down the server or removing the network cable. Does anyone have any ideas or know if it is even possible using software or by other means.

I am looking into deploying a hyper-convened solution as made possible in Windows Server 2016 in a small school (250 students) to manage about 5 VMs. I currently have to HP DL 380 Gen 9 servers available which have identical specification/configuration, however i would like to have a 3 node setup to increase redundancy and act as the witness. Does anyone know whether i can add a node with different spec/config, although relatively similar or do they have to be exactly the same. I was hoping i could reuse an existing HP ML350p gen 8. From doing some research it appears as if you are correct Quackers!! Thank You. Would you be able to share your logon script, i am a complete noob with regards to Macs. Are you using Profile Manager to push the script out?

We have a Mac Server Yosemite (10.10.3) and have 25 Macbook Pros bound to OD. I have created the users and all is working relatively well. However we are experiencing some issues with some applications (Outlook, Chrome, Firefox) not responding when a network user is logged in or it responds extremely slow. At the moment all home directories are stored on the Mac server in a Users share. If i change the Home directory to "Local Only" everything works as expected, however any files saved on the desktop or documents folder are not accessible from any other computer. Can anyone suggest how best to deal with user Home Folders in a network environment. My users have to be able to log on to any Macbook and have access to their documents folder.
