How do you provision onedrive accounts?

Without asking the user to log in and create them, do you use a powershell script or is there another free method for this?

I clicked on initiate but it still doesn't provision onedrive for the user. Does the user have to be logged in for it to work via this method?

Not entirely sure I'm understanding this, but all I do is assign users the SharePoint Plan license in O365 admin at the time of creating the accounts. Seems to create one for them straight away.

We're using Office 365 Education Plus for students which includes "SharePoint Plan 1 for EDU" and offers onedrive as well. However, the user has to open onedrive/sharepoint to provision the drive before it can be used. MS won't create the storage space unless they're used.

 

If a user tries to log into a mobile app without first provisioning onedrive - it doesn't work.

I saw the powershell script option but was wondering if there is another way and how others do it. Perhaps most just wait for self-provisioning
