Do you have form groups that don't contain the year name - eg 7G

Does your school use the year name as part of the form name? eg 7G for year 7

As the title says...

Go4Schools labels pupils with a year group... so: Joe Bloggs, Year 7 ...for example

We find this annoying when searching. Much better we thought to have the form group instead of the year group, so that the search returned: Joe Blogs, 7G

The only reason I can see that they wouldn't do this is because some schools don't use the year group as part of the form name as we do.

So... does your school use a year marker for form names??

Thanks

We have vertical form groups - so a single form has students from Y7 to Y11.

Damn! :)

Come to think of it in my final years my school had the same. In my defense it was a very long time ago!!!

Among the schools I support we have a whole mix, some with multiple years in 1 reg group, some with reg group named after planets that move up with the students, some where they use the staff code for the registration group name and some where they have things like 7Purple, 8Purple, etc.

We are an Outwood Academy, so we follow their standard naming convention - the houses are continents, and the forms are countries - 40 in all.

@clareq so how do the year groups get timetabled? Sets I guess?

I can't remember what my final year group was called, only our house group name which remained unchanged.

I suppose that even if your form groups don't denote year groups some kind of demarkation has to??
