Windows 10 GPO's > Server 2008 R2

Hi All,

Just gathering some information before I begin the road to Windows 10.

 

We have Server 2008 R2 and lots of Windows 7 machines. We use desktop and start menu redirection to manage the students and all in all the GPO's used work fairly well. Question is, does the Desktop / Start Menu redirection work under Windows 10?

 

Also, can I easily add to the GPO management console on 2008 R2 server the extra polices required to fully manage Windows 10 PC's.

 

I'm about to build some virtual machines to test a few things before going live, but any feed back would be helpful.

Desktop redirection works fine for us on our test PC's.

 

We are not 2008 R2 though but 2012.

 

Are you not able to upgrade your Server OS?

Works fine for our pupils using 2008 R2 but using Windows 10 1607 to manage the GPO.

Hi All,

Thanks for the all the replies. I have done a lot of research since I posted the message and now have a test 2008 R2 server and Windows 10 PC built ready to test the GPO's before roll out.

 

We will be updating to Server 2012 in the new year, but need to get 30 Windows 10 2in1's rolled out ASAP, hence the questions.

 

I'm a bit green when it comes to Win10, so for anyone following this thread I will post some updates on my progress just in case anyone else is on the same road.
