Hi

We are using the sims teacher app and I am having to unblock lots of ip address for the teacher app to work. Does anybody know how to allow all traffic from the sims teacher app so that we don't have to unblock all the ip address? We are using smoothwall.

Thanks in advance

I was sent this by our support team -

The SIMS Teacher app service communicates with the Azure Service Bus via the following TCP destination ports: * 443/TCP (specifically, you must allow outbound HTTPS connections to port 443) Additionally, Microsoft advise allowing/opening the following TCP destination ports if connecting to the SIMS Teacher app service from behind a firewall or proxy server. Please ensure that your firewall allows outgoing TCP communication on all TCP ports. * 9350, 9351, 9352, 9353, 9354, 9355 * 5671 * 5672

Also, rather than unblock 443, I analysed the traffic and found that this website is the key website - www.simsteachermanagement.co.uk, so put an exception on our filtering solution to let traffic through to that unimpeded.

Not a Smoothwall user, so couldn't advise on that part of it though.

EDIT: Also been told to add simsmobile.servicebus.net to the allow list.

its related to azure when i did this. same as localzuk says. If your with LGFL thats how they allow it using the Azure rules, with the SIMs ip ranges. You will have to unblock certain ips i believe it never connects locally thats why they use logins such as hotmail and gmail. Edited by broomop

it's a thread hi-jack, but it's related enough I don't think it's worth starting a new thread.

Has anyone tried the SIMS Teacher App on Windows 10 PCs yet?

I've just installed it on an ancient laptop IT support had laying around, and it's awesome!

Staff love the intuitive feel of the interface and the simplicity of use with the limited but important feature set.

If anyone has used it in anger can they give any feedback?
