CAWJames Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Hi, out of interest, what plan did you go for? Is that directed at me for SendGrid or for the OP If it's me, then just the base plan, £10 a month. 40,000 mails a month is plenty! Also should mention we have done the outgoing connector split hack on an On-Prem server, not sure if its possible on full O365 1
simpsonj Posted June 5, 2017 Author Posted June 5, 2017 Issue has returned for us this morning: Error Details Reported error: 550 5.0.350 Remote server returned an error -> 522 email sent from found on industry URI blacklists on 2017/06/05 10:38:20 BST, please contact your mail sending service or use an alternate email service to send your email. CAWJames Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Looks like your emails are going through the High-risk delivery pool, are you sending any bulk emails out, or a spamming linux webserver? You can check with message trace in the Exchange control panel to see what is being sent out. 1
simpsonj Posted June 5, 2017 Author Posted June 5, 2017 Only bulk emails we send are internal, we use Parentmail for parents... I'll see what I can see in the Exchange control panel.
CAWJames Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 it should say if they are being sent out with the high risk servers, if it doesn't then I would raise a ticket. Thanks James
simpsonj Posted June 5, 2017 Author Posted June 5, 2017 I've looked at message trace (and thank you for pointing out that tool, very useful!) but there's nothing dodgy with the headteacher's account that I can see. However, we've set automatic replies on our generic office account that we've had for years. As a result, that email address has sent around 200 failed emails in the past week, to 'no-reply' email addresses that have emailed in to that account. Would that be having a negative impact, enough to put us in the High-risk delivery pool?
CAWJames Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 If you trace one of those emails, it should show you if it has been put in the high risk pool. 200 could be enough to tip you over the threshold, but of course they won't tell you what the threshold is, as that would undermine the system!
simpsonj Posted June 5, 2017 Author Posted June 5, 2017 I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking for to find if they've been put out via HRDP using Message trace, but nothing sticks out. But following this guide I've looked at the message headers, and the SCL level is set at 1. However, it's not just our headteacher who is being blocked now, our PA can't email btinternet addresses either...
Mayki5 Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I've seen a few issues with this, this morning. The entirety of cornwall.sch.uk is blacklisted with invaluement spam blacklist, 1 URI DNSBL & 2 IP DNS lists, may be similar listings for other geographic regions under sch.uk. We've sent an unlist request, still waiting for it to take effect. 1
simpsonj Posted June 5, 2017 Author Posted June 5, 2017 Super, at least I'm not the only one... How did you send an unlist request? Would like to add our voice if I can. Ta.
simpsonj Posted June 5, 2017 Author Posted June 5, 2017 AH, followed your link and went from there. Fingers crossed...
kennysarmy Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 We're also getting issues sending to BTINTERNET.COM : host mx.bt.lon5.cpcloud.co.uk[65.20.0.49] said: 522 email sent from balcarras.gloucs.sch.uk found on industry URI blacklists on 2017/06/05 14:44:37 BST, please contact your mail sending service or use an alternate email service to send your email. kennysarmy Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Update: FROM RM: BT are currently rejecting email from 1 of our outbound email servers. We are in contact with BT and working towards resolving this issue with them. Please visit https://status.rm.com/ to view the latest update regarding the issue.
Mayki5 Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I colleague of mine called the company that maintains the spam lists. He's gotten Cornwall and Devon unblocked. The rest will be up to you guys, as and when you find that your county is on their list.
sister_annex Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 (edited) It would appear we're on the list too we're a walsall.sch.uk domain - on the invaluement spam list We use Office 365 as our outbound mail connector - incoming is working fine (and it only seems to be affecting BT Internet emails at the minute) Edited June 6, 2017 by sister_annex more info
Boredguy Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 We raised this with the SWGfL yesterday afternoon as they hold our DNS records (and the spf records were flagged as being incorrect according to O365) and they had lots of other schools logging similar mail issues.

Boredguy Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Just had a lovely chat with SWGfL Support (*waves* as they are reading this thread after I mentioned it) and they are still looking into it as the support update wasn't quite correct.
muppet Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 @simpsonj - We're getting this today too. Looks like Oxon.sch.uk is blacklisted!!! @Mayki5 - Do you have any contact details for the company that your colleague called? Any help gratefully appreciated. 1
Boredguy Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 I sent the delist request to Invaluement which was mentioned a few posts previously for our domain
newpersn Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Same for us aswell. Seems to be gloucs.sch.uk is blocked for us but we are not with SWGfL but EXA Just fired a email off to to see if we can remove ourselfs.
Mayki5 Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 We called their office direct on +1-478-475-9032. It took a bit of work getting them to unblock the entire county, but they did eventually. Invalument have been blocking some of them, as they have detected spam from email addresses from school domains in that county. 2
muppet Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Oxfordshire seems to be back up and running again. @simpsonj - Do you want to try it now to see if you're still blacklisted? 1
