Graphics card question

I have a hp compaq dc5700 sff with a intel core 2 duo cpu, 2.2 ghz, 4gb ram, and a 240 watt power supply

What graphics card should i buy to do some low level gaming it has to be a pcie x1 low profile

I have to be frank here, unless you intend to be gaming on (much) older titles that the CPU will definitely be holding you back (not to mention the PCIe x1).

The only cards I could find with with a brief look around are the Nvidia GeForce GT 710 and some much older AMD Radeon cards. None of which would give you anything close to stellar levels of performance.

I'm afraid to say you just have a PC that is most likely teetering on the edge of obsolescence.

There may be a ray of sunshine here. Looking at your motherboard here: 404794-001 404166-001 | Hp DC5700 404794-001 LGA775 Motherboard

 

 

It appears you do have a PCIe x16 slot. Can you confirm if this is the case for us? If it is, then this opens up a whole raft of newer and more capable cards for you, but won't change the fact that your CPU is (in PC terms) very old now.

If the above does stand, your maximum spec would be something like a GTX 1050 Ti as you won't have any PCI-e power connectors. That would be overkill for your PC - what's your budget?
