Hi IT Geeks,

Please we are implementing GLPI/OCS in our institution , and i need your feedback relative to these open source apps .

Do you think it's a good tool for Asset Management ( PCs , Printers , Network Device , Peripheral...) ?

Do you think it's a good tool for ticketing ?

Except Asset Management & ticketing , what could we do with GLPI ?

and the most important thing is could we implement ITIL process through GLPI ?

All answers / feedbacks are more than welcome.

Thanks

I implemented OCS and GPLI on the same VM. we have around 200+ assets

It works well for us as OCS NG helps auto discovery of the hardware information. OCSNG provides asset tracking (limited) but if you want full scale asset tracking then add GLPI in the mix.

GLPI allows you to add and attach document such as purchase order, invoice etc to the hardware. We dont use the ticketing functionality so cant comment on that

GLPI and OCSNG are great combo if you have small-medium size organisation and it is free (you have to provide the hosting). It seems to perform great on our VM running 4GB RAM, 1 CPU and 40GB HDD. This obviously will vary depending of the number of assets you have.

take all the above as the pros.

The Cons:

I wish the fields in GLPI can be easily modified so it assets can be classified as true as possible. For example, it doesnt have mobile devices to manage ipad/android tablets. So I have been classifying, ipad as computer.

hope that helps and if you have any questions, im happy to answer :)
