RobFrain Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Hi We've had our 3CX phone system installed for just over a year now using Yealink phones and absolutely love the system, and the costs have already paid for itself! We're looking at the possibility of adding all our parental names and phones numbers onto the address book, so that when a parent rings when can confirm they are who they say they are. I can see you can export quite easily out of Sims, however importing into the phonebook on 3CX means that every person will be able to use the phone book and ring a parent or find a number. Is there anyway we can set this up so that the system can spot incoming calls and display " Parent Name - Parent of Student Name", however prevent others from ringing directly from the phone?? Does anyone have a system like this? Rob
RobFrain Posted June 7, 2017 Author Posted June 7, 2017 Just going to give this a bump.... does anyone else have a phone system like this that links to Sims so you can see who the parent is before you answer the call?
DavidYoung Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Hi Rob, Did you get any further with this? We are looking at exactly the same thing. We are in the process of tendering our new phone system and 3CX is coming up against other systems which claim to have SIMS integration built-in or via a plugin whereas 3CX doesn't natively. @Chris_Cook is looking to see if we can put some sort of web database together which we can import our SIMS data into and then query from a URL with the phone number from 3CX. I'm sure if we get it working nicely we can share it with others if you haven't found a solution already. Kind regards David
RobFrain Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 Sadly not - We could import all the names into Excel and put them in our phonebook, however it means that every parents phone number was on every phone. Any user of the phone could then ring any parent which we didn't want - too risky. If you work something out with 3CX please do let us know!
GTX Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Just thinking out loud here: Doesnt 3CX desktop app integrate with outlook? Couldn't you setup a outlook contacts and only give the people who need it access to it? Rick
cpjitservices Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 We have it setup so if a company calls us that we deal with it comes up on the Yealink display as the company name, not sure how you would import that - we have only ever entered the numbers/details in manually into the 3CX phone book, if you don't want people to dial directly you can put rules in on 3CX for extensions, so you would assing a rule to an extension. FOr the life of me I cant remember how to do this, I think its in the Advanced Exceptions on the Extension options... you may need to submit a ticket.
mattmole Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 The only thing that I could think of is using two different provisioning templates. One could include the URL to the parents phone number address book and the other one doesn't. The phones are then provisioned with one or the other template
