SIMS.net RTF Report Problem

We are running Sims.net 7.97. In one of our schools when a RTF report is run as soon as the report attempts to launch Word the error message 'Application Not Found' is generated. Word reports in SIMS run fine. Any ideas, help gratefully received..

It could be that RTFs aren't associated properly.. maybe try associating them with Word?

 

You could also try running filemon while the error occurs to see if there are any NOT FOUND errors for .exe files which look like the culprit.

Thank you for your help. How do I associate the RTF's with Word! Feel I should know but I dont! thanks

There are other ways to do it but the simplest way should be

 

1 - Either locate the target RTF file via Windows or create a new one and save it to your desktop (if creating a new one make sure you save it with an RTF file type).

2 - Right-click on the file on your desktop (or where ever you saved it) and select Open With...

3 - Select Microsoft Word from the list (you may need to browse to the applications directory if it is not immediately available in the list)

4 - Ensure you check the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" tick box.

5 - Click OK.

 

This should restore the association between the RTF file type and Word.
