Hi All,

 

Hope someone can help me shed some light on my DC performance issues......

 

recently had to rebuild my dc's (one at a time) due to sysvol replication problems and exhausting the usual fixes. All appeared to gone well but now for some reason AD is slow to load and when doing a "detect" within group policy manager, results in it sitting there doing nothing. Cant see anything bad in the logs either.

 

I thought it was possible something I have missed in the setup but dns Is working fine.

 

strange and very annoying as with the exception of the recent replication issue everything was instant!

Is IPv6 turned on on the new DCs? It needs to be. Make sure that the static addresses for both IPv4 and 6 resolve properly.

Saying that, we leave IPv6 enabled but don't actually assign any addresses, no issues here.

 

Did you demote the old DC properly?

Have you checked;

dcdiag /a /v /c

Repadmin /showrepl

 

Might provide some answers

Yeah you don't need to assign addresses if you don't run IPv6 DHCP, but DCs use it internally and AD plays up if it's turned off.
