Apps issue windows 8.1 (TTS Logbox)

Having wrestled with ttts logbox and finally got it working, I realise that the app icon does not work on the Windows 8.1 Lenovo Yogas when logged on as a Student.

The program has installed, the path is correct - exactly the same as on the Windows 7 computers - but it does not show the icon properly and does not work.

If I log on as manager the desktop icon works fine. It also works for staff - they have an icon on the desktop and the app works too.

This would point to a permissions issue but I have set the highest folder to allow everyone to do everything, and the students are also allowed to do everything just in case.

Can anyone shed any light on this - what can I do?

I'm really hoping someone can help as I am at a loss

What happens when you click on the icon? Is anything showing up in the event viewer?

Nothing happens - except for the error message - "the parameter is incorrect" But the path is correct

it is that sort of blank page logo thing rather than the proper pic. There is nothing in the event viewer, sadly

Oh yay, this doesnt get any better

I realised that windows 7 doesnt have the executable .jar file in the shortcut path but the program runs anyway.

Windows 8.1 seems to need the 'jar file in the path so once I put that in the program now opens.

Sadly, the program does not seem to recognise the datalogger even though when connected the message "communicating with computer" appears on the datalogger screen.

I am beginning to lose the will to live
