broken windows 10 on bitlockered drive dont know recovery key

Hi

 

I have surface 3 tablet that was bitlockered manaully and the windows 10 OS has got corrupted I need to re-install the OS but bitlocker is stopping me from formatting the driver I have tried the recoverey options but it is asking me for the recoery key which I dont have I know the password but it wants the recovery key, any adivse on how i get this drive wiped so I can get the OS installed again?

Hard disk encryption/bitlocker should not stop you formatting the drive. Just boot to a usb drive/cd windows install disk and format the drive

If nothing else, you should be able to use diskpart to clean the disk.

 

When booting up from the W10 install media, press shift+F10 to get a command prompt.

use installation media, shift+f10 to get to command prompt, diskpart, list disk, select disk 0 (assuming a one disk machine here!), list partition, (select the partition) i.e. select partition 1, delete partition override.

 

or you can select disk 0 then clean to wipe all partitions if you like.

 

or use Linux live GPARTED to murder the disk.

thanks for all your replys I had tried all of your tips and nothing the diskpart command wouldnt let me onto the drive even when it asked me for the password for the drive and I entered the password correctly and when i booted so I contacted microsoft explained the issuse and they are going to swap the unit out.
