fiza Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 We have been given a 2nd hand Sahara Clevertouch screen (GT55MCQ-X model). It has a PC built into it and I am trying to get it interactive. The screen itself has a USB A port for touch but I cant figure out how I would connect this to the PC as the PC only has USB A type ports too. I was expecting the screen to have a USB B type port like printers do. Does anyone know how I can connect the 2 together to make the screen touch enabled? Photo shows the panel and the USB is clearly marked 'for touch only'
Scifigirl Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 We have a couple of these - they all seem to be USB-A to USB-A. We used a gender changer in the wall plate to present to correct outputs for a B-A lead for the PC. USB-A to USB-A cables are pretty cheap though https://www.kenable.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4292&gclid=CjwKEAjw97K_BRCwmNTK26iM-hMSJABrkNtbG5D0drPQhxdBiixfGtkwOpOdxKfGdijDFnwou5RM2hoCQLLw_wcB Hope this helps 1
ITJS2015 Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 alphateach screens are the same to connect to the laptop, its a USB A-A cable you require. My advice to you is if your going to get screens like this in the classrooms make sure that you don't get the usb from the tv to the box on the wall which is like a converter. Its mainly to look like its tidy, we have had issues where the touch screen loses connection from the box on the wall to the pc and to get around this is go direct to the touch screen itself. Its all about the USB power which is the problem, but I would avoid this using the usb from the box and go direct 1
Zipsterr Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 I am with meadowgirl on this.... its a Gender changer job I would say.
fiza Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 Just to update everyone, I purchased a USB A to A cable from Maplins for £2.99 and it works a treat! 1
