Monyka PC-1000 UPS system

Hi all

 

I have had one of these UPS systems lying around since before I started - it was dumped in the back of an old room

 

I have been trying to get it working but it says battery failure - fair enough

To some extent I am thinking that I should ditch it (responsibly!) as I have never heard of them and I have worked with cheap UPS systems before that cause power failures due to rubbish parts/software etc - but.......

 

Anyway - I have been trying to look them up in case I can replace the batteries cheaply but I can't find any record of them

 

Anyone heard of them or used them - or dumped them due to them being useless?????

@Oaktech on here had a battery pack made for a UPS recently by a local company:

 

I've acquired new sets of batteries for 3 otherwise scrap UPS' and now they are all working happily. What is particularly cool is that our local battery supplier made the packs up for us at a rate equivalent to buy one get one free compared to the APC prices and they are the same cells!

Have you got the failed batts out yet, there might be some clues on them...

 

I've had packs made up by Bournemouth Battery Centre and by our local security suppliers whose name I forget right now!

I have taken the thing apart and extracted the batteries - however I am still wary of using a UPS system for which I have no manual, no software and which does not seem to appear on the WWW.

 

It will cost about £50 ish to replace the battery - but then that may not fix it. And then I do not have the comms/management software to install on the server so that it can shutdown if the power goes for an extended time

 

I think I will just look for a new one

The megatec shutdown software is pretty universal if you were going to take a punt on the system...
