alfatec Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Hi, We currently have about 30 Smartboard Installations with either UF 55 or UF 65 projectors installed and quite a few of them have dead pixels showing like a starry night on the screen. We have had quotes to repair the DMD chip on them which causes the pixel issue but the chip is between £250 and £300 plus repair and shipping costs does not make it a viable option. Apart from getting a replacement Smartboard solution what are other schools using to either replace the UF 55/65 projectors or complete solutions.
NB9457 Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 What is your budget to replace them? If you can afford it, screens are the way forward in most scenarios
MYK-IT Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Possible solutions: Keep Unifi bracket etc. and replace projector Roche AV Swapout entire UniFi Projector/Bracket with a (Hitachi) Ultra Short Throw Projector: Roche AV Or replace totally with an Interactive Touch Screen
alfatec Posted September 16, 2016 Author Posted September 16, 2016 Many thanks for the advice guys. In the short term I think we will replace with Hitachi Ultra Short Throw Projectors but in the long term will be fitting interactive screens. MYK-IT thanks for the Roche AV information, just what I was looking for. 1
VeryPC_Andy Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 HI @alfatec Another option could be to look at SMART CLAAS (classroom as a service) , this i where the school takes out a service agreement with smart and pay a monthly subscription over a period of 3 years. At the end of the 3 years you can continue the subscription at a reduced rate , replace with new (bigger /better) or stop the service . This is an option to consider if you are keeping with a SMART based install , want the latest Smart learning suite software and IFP panel but don't have the capital budget right now. I guess its a question of how many projectors you will replace in the short term , the cost and how long you plan to run them vs replacing all equipment on subscription . I'll pm you my details if you want to get in touch . Happy to answer any other questions on SMART CLAAS for any thread readers .
