Can't connect to network shares and Group Policy not appying

I have 16 Surface Pro 4s running Windows 10 Edu and one of them is not connecting to network shares. It did previously (before the holidays). I then had a problem with the wireless, which was ultimately fixed by removing the Winsock and Winsock 2 registry entries and then copying them back in from a working machine.

 

Since sorting the wireless, I've lost access to network shares. It gets an ip address and gives internet access. I can ping the DC and file server. It also seems to connect to the User Profile Service as I was able to login to the computer after changing my domain password and also login with a user that didn't previously have a local profile. I can also login to the admin console on the printer (using its ip address via a web browser), although not print as printers are allocated by group policy. I can't even access \\server\netlogon although it seems to accessing the login service on the domain - my first attempt at a fix was to remove and then add to the domain. Users get the correct Group Policies and access to network shares when using other computers. I'm sure the Group Policy problem is to do with failure to access the netlogon share. I do have "Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon" enabled.

 

What am I missing?

I have just tried connecting a USB>ethernet adapter and get exactly the same results.

Ok, can you try accessing the shares using the FQDN? I've had a wierd issue where the offline files cache becomes corrupted and it stops access to shares.

I tried FQDN and no luck. I also tried clearing the offline files cache just on the off chance and still the same problem. 😥

It looks that way. There's just something more satisfying about fixing stuff....

Have you removed it from the domain, deleted the account from AD then re-joined? to be honest I spend 20 mins on something now, if its only affecting one device its not worth my time trying to diagnose it, I just rebuild it.

Have you tried renaming registry.pol in the windows\group policy\computer folder thwn running a gpupdate
