We have a onsite exchange with a long email, address of [email protected] How can I add a second address which is much much smaller than points to the original address. Our domain name is hosted by 1&1.

Do I need to register a second domain?

Not much experience with exchange so any help greatly appreciated.

We are using exchange 2012. I'll have a look at the details you kindly sent me on Tuesday when I am back at work.

I've run several domains off a single exchange server several times, I have just done it now as we have changed names.

Just purchase a new domain from 123reg or some other provider, point the MX records to your exchange server's external IP, add the new domain on the server as an accepted domain then update your policy to include the new domain.

You can only set one as primary (return email address) but it means that the users can receive on both email addresses to the same inbox.
