netad Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 HI I Have just inherited a RM Network to manage and i need to rename all the printers, is it as simple as renaming the Share or do i need to add them back to the computers using the RM Console? Thanks for any Help NetAd
6Foot2 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Hi, We don't have an RM network, and I haven't worked on one since Connect 2.4. However, if I had a question like this on our network I might try renaming a printer that has less impact across the network (my own networked printer for example) to see if the renaming idea would be viable.
netad Posted August 16, 2016 Author Posted August 16, 2016 Hi DaveP thanks for the reply I would do that normally but I am on holiday and only have 1 day to do it when I get back, just want to get a plan of attack ready for when I am home

I think I will bow out of this thread. Good luck. I hope you find an answer.
rad Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I will duck in... We need to do this so I will let you know how I get on. I am renaming all computers at present so also need to rename printers. When are you in? If I don't reply in a weeks time, Nudge me via PM and I will let you know. I believe it is a case of renaming the printer share as you say on the print server, this is then populated across.
netad Posted August 16, 2016 Author Posted August 16, 2016 Hi Rad I am back next Monday . Hoping it is just a case of renaming it on the share
Sylv3r Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 You should just be able to rename the Printer and the allocation will remain as previous on the location.
