Multi Vendor Point to Point wiress bridge

Hi guys and gals,

 

I have two separate buildings I want to join, but for reasons beyond my control I can't use fibre. They each have separate managed wireless, main building is Cisco and other is Ruckus (again beyond my control).

 

Is it possible to either have a Cisco to Ruckus wireless bridge, or would you have one vendor at both sides (Cisco to Cisco bridge) but managed by one side (eg remote Cisco AP managed by Cisco core across the bridge)?

 

Or, is there an option I've missed that would be better? ISP have suggested they can put in a Microwave connection for it, but this would only be 500mbps, and at the behest if the ISP.

 

Any suggestions welcome. Cheers in advance.

I would keep the bridge sepearate out of the managed wifi system and not even worry abotu that as its doing a specific job so keep it that way So Ruckus make kids suitable and I'm sure @Net-Ctrl could help you with that, Cisco will do them and others on here have used Ubiquity for the same thing.

I've been looking at the Ubiquity stuff, some of it looks really cool "airFiber 24 /HD" (with maybe a not so cool price ~ £2/4k per link and I guess there are more for long distance), but some cheaper ones. But I guess even the £4k per link for a 2Gbps connection is cheaper than the alternative leased line option.

 

The Ruckus T710 also looked good, but can't find pricing for it.

What's the distance from the two points where you're looking to put the antennas? I'm certain you could do it cheaper than 2-4k

We have just been looking at putting a short range P2P link between two building with a 1GB link each way, depending on budget there are a few options it seem.

 

I think the Ubiq airFiber 24 needs the distance to be over 100m. It seems that you can get it working at a shorter distance but it required a lot of config. You could look at something like the Fastback V1000 for a sub 100 metre link, more expensive that the Ubiq. Ruckus has their P300 solution, that has a theoretical max link of 500mb.

Not far at all literally a stones throw, it would be short enough to run a cable, but we're not allowed (site owner politics).

I think I may of settled on a couple of unifi-ap-ac-outdoor radios, ~£350 1.3Ghz
