techy32 Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 We have bought about 150 Dell PCs this year and looking for a power management solution which works for Dell? Anyone using any software from Dell or any other?
mukz Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 We use SCCM, but essentially anything should work out there unless you want something fancy
newpersn Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Impero? Or any other classroom management software.
Al_NetSupport Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 (edited) Morning Apur32. I think the summary of classroom management of school-wide management tools probably summarises the main options. In terms of the latter, as you will probably have seen on the forum ( and we sponsor this enterprise one), NetSupport DNA is a solution, similar in concept to Impero that offers a range of features for managing school IT resources. One of the features in NetSupport DNA is a Power Management module, allowing you to schedule Power On and Power off times by day of the week , as well as set exclusions for bank holidays, half term etc. It then allows you to also define activity policies, so if a PC is inactive for say 60 mins, you can specify a behaviour ( if logged on, log off, if logged off, suspend or power off etc). Policies can be different for during school hours and after hours. http://www.netsupportdna.com/screenshots/images/power_management.png From our explorer view you can always select an individual PC and Power it on or off on the fly, as often its just a one time update you want to apply. I did produce a brief video tour of the power management feature which you can view here : NetSupport DNA - Energy Monitoring and Power Management - Product tour video You can access an overview of the full solution from NetSupport DNA - IT Asset Management for Schools. I'd also be happy to do a quick demo online for you if you want to see the feature in more detail and discuss. We also make a point of putting our software in front of testers in different industry titles to get them to evaluate and highlight the pro's ( and con's) of our solution. So i have included below the links to a couple of reviews that were undertaken in the last few months, so you can see an independent view. PC PRO gave us their recommended award, IT Pro ( below) singled out our excellent power management features , and Teach Secondary said we had abilities verging on the divine ( i think he may have won the lottery earlier in the day though). Teach Secondary Review - or - IT PRO Review Hope that is helpful. Al. P.S You might also have noticed, we are doing a promotion currently for edugeek members which is on the homepage of the forum, where you can purchase the complete NetSupport DNA suite for just £5 a PC for a lifetime licence. http://www.netsupportsoftware.com/awards/ISTE16_BestofShow_TNL2_Winner_ol%20small.jpg Edited July 27, 2016 by Al_NetSupport added links to reviews 1
speckytecky Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Impero works a treat for us. With our Dells first had to update the BIOS on the clients though.
