PCI Graphics Card (Old)

Hello All,

 

Just wondering if someone has a link/price to a non-PCI-E (plain PCI graphics card) ideally with HDMI/DVI/VGA, pulled an old PC apart in work and found the existing slot onboard is unfortunate enough to be on an ADD2 port, it seems that the existing PCI card has failed and it needs to be replaced with a working model, the HDMI is needed also for the TV we extend it too with some software.

sorry i mean plain PCI card here, not PCI-E which are all vendors have

Plain pci is old, old - i doubt it'll be capable of the throughput required for hdmi. Do you mean pci-e x4 or x1? Vs pci-e x16. Pretty sure most pci-e x16 work in a x4 slot, just slower. Can you post the model no of the old one?

this one had an nvidia 8400 gs installed in its PCI slot which had one of each connector, its not running high end graphics program just a stats package Edited July 25, 2016 by rich_tech

If you happen to have a free PCI-e x1 slot you have some options too, like GT610. If not, you're looking at something like the 8400GS again - they stopped making anything on PCI a good while back but some retailers may have old stock. Ebay otherwise.

If it's not resource intensive work, using the onboard graphics with a simple VGA to HDMI adapter should work. I've used setups like these in the past for old laptops that don't have HDMI, they work pretty good. There is a local supplier here that gets the cheap Chinese version of these adapters for $39 each, a real steal.
