Kitkatninja Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Hi All, Was wondering if any of you have had this issue... The updating of Windows 2012 r2 integration tools on a virtual server? OK, the environment: Host server: Windows 2012 r2 Datacentre (fully updated) Virtual server: Windows 2012 r2 Standard (fully updated) Integration tools on virtual server: 6.3.9600.16384 Integration tools that is to be installed: 6.3.9600.17831 During installation (upgrade) it comes up with the following error: An error has occurred: One of the update processes returned error code 14101. Error messages in Event viewer: None Work done to try to get it to install: All Windows updates Reboot (just in case anyone mentions that) Install KB3063283 The uninstall of KB3161606 Currently this is only coming up as a warning in SCOM, but I would rather not have any warnings We're still looking into this, but if anyone has any thought (in relation to this), that would be great... -Ken
localzuk Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 This seems relevant: Solved: Error 14101 when you try to install KB3161606 or HyperV-Integration-Service 1
Kitkatninja Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Yeah, just found that. Half way thru the DISM command, will see if that works...
Kitkatninja Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Yes, the conbination of the removal of: KB3161606 with the following command: dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup Worked on 2 of the 3 servers (so far), one 3rd server after the dism command, it errored out with "Error 14098 the Component Store has been corrupted". I have run the following command: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth (which ran successfully), rebooted the server and currently running the above dism command again... Waiting for it to finished to see if the 3rd server can be done as well
TwistedHelixis Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 i have a different fix - Hyper-V Integration Components Fail to Upgrade after KB3161606 | Aidan Finn, IT Pro https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/7575b637-d559-46a7-8e00-53b1b12d530f/integration-services-update-required-2012r2-host-and-vm?forum=winserverhyperv Apparantly you can rename a file and then continue with the install 1
TwistedHelixis Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 . Waiting for it to finished to see if the 3rd server can be done as well Let me know how it goes as I have installed this stupid update at a good few schools before noticing the problem, and will need to fix it during the summer hols. 1
Kitkatninja Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 Following on from my last post; the startcomponentcleanup, RestoreHealth (reboot) and then startcomponentcleanup (reboot) worked. I have been able to install the latest version of the hyper-v tools on my VMs
TwistedHelixis Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 @wagnerk So If I have the update KB3161606 installed on a host and 2 client vm's where should I be uninstalling the updates from just the client vm's or the host and client?
