maxrebo Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Looking to buy a suite of these, can any one provide any feedback if you have any of these? Cheers
Paid_Peanuts Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I wouldn't buy anything Lenovo ever again! Their after support is horrendous!
Ric_ Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I wouldn't buy anything Lenovo ever again! Their after support is horrendous! As much as we appreciate comments about good/bad support, could you expand a little as to how the support experience you received was terrible?
Paid_Peanuts Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Technicians not arriving next day, instead two or three days after the initial support call. Technicians arriving with the incorrect parts to resolve the issue. Hand fisted technicians breaking bezels on machines and denying or leaving us with plastic bezels not clipping in and securing properly. Power buttons being pushed in and disappearing inside the front plastic bezel. After experiencing Lenovo support for two years, I wouldn't go back! I've never, never had the types of experiences with Dell support. For the very small premium over Lenovo, Dell are worth every penny. I feel the pc's are built to a higher standard with Dell. I cannot talk about laptops as we don't have any.
m25man Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I've very rarely needed to use Lenovo warranty as the kit has stood the test of time but when I have its been pretty good. There's good and bad with all vendors and cost cutting at all levels inevitably shows itself somewhere down the line and that applies to all industries. You don't get to be one of the worlds largest PC makers by churning out junk! Yes, they have made some questionable kit but no more than Acer and others! The after sales services are outsourced to 3rd parties in much the same way as deliveries get outsourced to Yodel and we all know what to expect there. All the Lenovo business class stuff goes to IBM service which on the whole I've always found to be good. The non "Think" brands get farmed out to some 3rd party outfits that don't have the same access to parts and resources that IBM Global do. Buy the quality Lenovo product rather than the cheapest, you get what you pay for in this game.
Paid_Peanuts Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 (edited) "you get what you pay for in this game." - true That's why I'll be buying Dell ;-) But I guess they'll be someone whose had a similar bad experience with Dell, HP etc. I'm just not prepared to chance it again when I don't have to, not when I've had 10 years good experience with Dell. Alis_Klar Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 @m25man I would agree that the newer Chinese Lenovo stuff is not as good as the ex IBM stuff. You are right that the "think" branded stuff is better on the whole but you do get what you pay for.
witch Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 We have a whole IT suite of Think branded Lenovo kit. There has been a recurring issue that has taken 9 months to sort out. The second line support seemed OK but he was hampered by the back office support staff "looking into the issue" and coming up with NOTHING to solve it. I sent videos and all sorts. I had to escalate the issue by officially complaining several times. In the end they did give us three computers for free
maxrebo Posted July 14, 2016 Author Posted July 14, 2016 Thanks for your views. We have a school full of Zoostorm kit and to be honest in the two years we haven't had any problems with them. I know there cheap and I`m keen to get some kit in thats "better" quality, hence going for Lenovo, i`m tempted to carry on with Zoostorm to be honest. Wold people go for Dell kit with this thinking in mind? cheers
